I declare my favorite film: Whiplash. It's the film I like the most. I have never experienced emotions like the emotions Whiplash invoked in me watching it.

2001 Space Odyssey only works when you can watch it at 2 to 16x speed depending on how slow the current scene is. For instance, that monkey scene: 17 minutes and I was on 4x speed by the end of it. That whole space hallucination scene was 16x.

I do think Stanley stands alone amongst film makers for his vision. I can imagine based on aesthetic standards you can make the case for Kubbie's work.

When I watched the monkey scene it was definitely at least 17 minutes. It must have been some sort of extended cut.
